“This is not a poster of Isidro Ferrer”

The University of Zaragoza pays tribute to the figure of the famous Spanish designer and illustrator. And he does it through an exhibition that brings together, not one, but more than 170 posters that show his vast professional career.

For three decades, Isidro Ferrer has been working and nourishing the Spanish visual imaginary with creativity. Born in Madrid, he has been working in Huesca for years, and who better than him to start the 2018-2019 exhibition course organized by the Vice-Rector for Culture and Social Projection of the University of Zaragoza.
The visual language of Isidro Ferrer is unmistakable, forceful and with a very personal stamp. With this sample, 170 posters and more than a hundred objects of the designer and illustrator (National Design Award in 2002, National Illustration Award in 2006 and Gràffica Award).
All the pieces in the exhibition This is not a poster by Isidro Ferrer, they discover not only the author’s poster career, but also a way of understanding the work and the poster as a support and as an active object.
The catalog: a huge creative inventory
As an extra, it is very appreciated, the catalog that accompanies the sample. This creative inventory has been designed by Isidro Ferrer and with texts by Grassa Toro, Raquel Pelta and the author himself; a careful publication with which a limited edition (numbered and signed) has been carried out in screen printing of the exhibition poster.
The publication is a work of exceptional synthesis to understand not only the work of Isidro Ferrer but the function and uses of the poster.
