The Guild of Industry and Graphic Communication of Catalonia awards the prizes of the Graphic Arts Contest, considered the “Oscars” of the sector.
The graphic arts sector has awarded the prestigious Graphic Arts Contest prizes, considered the Oscars of the sector. The awards, which annually convenes the Gremi de la Indústria i la Comunicació Gràfica de Catalunya, have awarded prizes to the creations of a dozen companies from among the 300 works presented, “all of them of a high quality level, perhaps the best of recent years , which has made the task of the jury very difficult “, explains Jordi Fort, coordinator of the contest. The jury has focused on originality, design, materials and techniques for creating the works. The awards ceremony was held at the National Institute of Physical Education of Catalonia (INEFC) during a very busy gala presented by the humorist Peyu.
The awards, which reach its 67th edition and distinguish categories such as book, magazine, poster, container, case, label, etc., have fallen to the companies Liberdúplex (Book Prize), 9 Disseny (Prize Book in Industrial Binding), Pix Fix (Prize Catalog), Impremta Pagès (Catalog / Case Award), The Folio Club-Sfera Print Space (Prize Magazine), Art Plus Serigrafia (Prize Poster in Serigraphy), Novoprint (Prize Case), Millennium Manipulated (Prize Envase), Nou Display (PLV Award), Tot Display (Accésit PLV Award), Gràfiques Lappi Martorell (Label Award) and Universal Sleeve (Sleeve Award). Binding Eusebio Gregorio has won the Book Prize in Artisanal Binding as well as the Pyramid of the Gremial for the best work presented, one of the most valued, for “a case of Toulouse-Lautrec with some methacrylate tops that includes some books made with rustic cover contrasted and a set of hand-glued and numbered sheets “, as explained by Eusebi Gregori, manager of the company.
The jury, formed by Francesc Xavier Matas, Jordi Fort, Sergi Deltor and Lluís Comajoan, has also made a special mention to the Can Puig Institute for its work of integration in the graphic arts. The winners have taken home a monogram and a diploma. Laura Capellades, student of 1st Design and Multimedia Editorial in the School of Professional Training Antoni Algueró, winner of the contest on the poster of the Graphic Gala 2018, has also distinguished herself.
The act of delivery has begun after an open-air aperitif with the parliament of Iban Cid, president of the Gremi, who has analyzed the moment in which the graphic arts sector lives and has welcomed the progress of the Catalan economy. The Graphic Gala is supported by Comart, Heidelberg, HP, Kodak, Agfa, Esko, Ricoh, Sign-Tronic and ABG International.
