The National Library of Spain achieves one of the Paper Values Awards 2018
The jury of the fourth edition of the Paper Values Awards has decided unanimously to grant the National Library of Spain the Valuable Prize, for its tireless work of book and reading promotion and its status as “book house”, which retains copies of all published in Spain in any medium. The institution also posts all periodicals published as magazines and newspapers, sound and audiovisual works and the archive of the Spanish website. In addition to collecting and safeguarding the bibliographic heritage, the BNE has an invaluable collection of manuscripts, incunabula, maps, prints, engravings, photographs, scores and drawings, among other documents.
The director of the BNE, Ana Santos Aramburo, collected the recognition on March 6 at the Reina Sofia National Museum in Madrid, as part of the annual event of the Paper Forum, along with the other winners in this fourth edition of the Awards Paper values. Writers Lorenzo Silva, Antonio Muñoz Molina and Julia Navarro were awarded in the three previous editions; the designers Lóbulo, Noelia Lozano and Wanda Barcelona; the Marca newspaper, Cuadernos Rubio, Montblanc, Honda, the tri-centenary paper mill J. Vilaseca, Ebro Foods, El Corte Inglés, the Pedro García shoe company and the Tolosa Paper School.
The Paper Values Awards focus on the characteristic attributes of this material: its essential, valuable, natural, innovative and renewable nature, which gives its name to the five prizes that are awarded in each edition.
They are the recognition of the world of paper to people and organizations that are distinguished by embodying these values in activities or initiatives in the cultural, artistic or literary, communication, marketing or advertising, educational, sports or show business, economic and business, environmental, scientific and technological, social or humanitarian and political.
