Graphic arts skip paper to print more sectors
The graphic industry is in full transformation and is not limited to printed paper. They also change the creative possibilities and business models with the entry into new sectors hitherto unknown to the graphic arts. Bottles that light up, hotel rooms redecorated in a matter of hours, pages that emit aromas or labels that change color to indicate the freshness of a food are some of the innovations presented by Graphispag from 21 to 24 March at Fira de Barcelona.
In the hall of the Leading Graphic Communication Industry in Spain, which will bring together 350 brands of graphic technology, software, media and materials, visitors can see that today you can print on all media and formats imaginable to get spaces and unique objects. The possibilities are practically endless: walls dressed in contemporary designs, holograms that act against counterfeit products, lenticular counters, vinyl carpets that reproduce works of art, garments with customized designs or books capable of connecting with the online world.
Participants from twelve countries
Among the firms represented in the commercial offer are reference brands in the graphic industry such as Heidelberg, Agfa, Digidelta, Epson, HP, Roland DG or Mactac. In this edition, exhibitors from twelve countries participate. Spain is the country that contributes the most companies to Graphispag, followed by Portugal, China, Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, United Kingdom, USA, Sweden, the Netherlands and Latvia. As a novelty, Graphispag will host a huge “showroom” with all kinds of finished graphic product samples where real cases of application of printing in new sectors will be presented, with special emphasis on the publishing world, textiles, interior design, trade and packaging. . The director of Graphispag, Xavier Pascual, says that in that showroom “the potential and versatility of graphic communication is approaching professionals from other sectors that can increase the added value of their products thanks to printing, as architects, dealers, merchants, designers, retailers, publicists, editors, fashion brands, food or cosmetics, among others ».
