Reinvent yourself thanks to advanced printing
Nearly 50 graphic entrepreneurs, associated with Neobis, went to the ETSIDI Technology Center of the Polytechnic University of Madrid on October 17 to participate in the conference on advanced printing and learn about projects related to functional and additive printing in the that the Cluster Functional Print already works.
Álvaro García, President Neobis; Fernando Blaya, UPM Research; and Mar González, Cluster Functional Print manager, welcomed the attendees and highlighted the need to innovate in the Spanish business fabric in general and in the graphic communication sector in particular.
Rakel Herrero, from the Department of Deposition of Materials of Naitec, presented in his lecture ‘Applications and opportunities of development in functional printing’. In his opinion, functional printing makes possible the development of new products with traditional printing methods (offset, gravure, screen printing …) and stressed that functional printing opens new roads and markets. “This is a fact and to recognize it you just have to have an open mind. There are already dozens of companies working on it and if we want to be on the crest of the wave we must begin the change “.
José Ignacio Oteiza, director of Mateprincs, recounted in first person how is the process of moving from the traditional business model of graphic arts to functional printing and the four basic pillars on which this transformation should be done.
Mario J. Moya, managing partner of Adastra, entered the economic field presenting the possible ways of public and private financing of R & D & I and investments.
Finally, Mar González, manager of the Cluster Functional Print, presented examples and success stories and made a call to all those present to emphasize that functional printing is an incipient sector but with a great future since it provides products with high added value that allow reach new markets that therefore represent a real opportunity for the most traditional graphic industry.
